Rita Ferraton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Ferraton on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 at the age of 87 years, after a courageous struggle with heart disease. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Montmartre, Sask. Father Edward Hengen will be celebrant and burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Montmartre, Sask. The Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, February 7th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Father Carlos Jimeniz officiating. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Wilfrid Coupal and Lumina (nee Laberge) Coupal; her brothers and sisters Engelbert, Emmanuel, Wilfrid, Amable, Yvonne, Marie Anna, Stella, Laurette, Marie Alexine and Maximilienne. She is survived by her loving husband Ben; her four daughters Jacqueline (Geoffrey), Colette (Dennis), grandchildren Robert and Lisa,Yvette (Bill), grandchildren David, Dominique, Michael, Gisele (Brian); sister Paulette Percival; two sister-in-laws Alice Ferraton and Doreen Ferraton; numerous nieces and nephews; and her many friends in Montmartre and Moose Jaw. Rita was born on September 8th, 1922. On November 12th, 1945 she and Ben were married and began their life together on the Ferraton family farm in Montmartre. Rita dedicated her life to her husband and family. Her love was unconditional. Rita took great pride in all aspects of farming, particularly in painting all the farm buildings and her huge garden. She found great support in her church and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. In 1988 she and Ben travelled to Quebec, where she visited her parents’ birthplace. Other travels took her to Boston, the West Coast and Yakima Washington. In her later years she and Ben resided at the Bentley in Moose Jaw. She enjoyed playing cards, concerts and plays.
