Robert Ferguson
On Monday, June 17th, 2013, Bob Ferguson passed away at the age of 90 years with his family by his side. Bob was born in Harrisville, Michigan on June 29th, 1922 to Robert James and Mary Jane Ferguson. Moving to Saskatchewan, they settled in the Stelcam/Drinkwater area. Bob attended school for three years in Michigan before moving to Saskatchewan, attending Coventry and Stelcam School and later high school in Drinkwater. As a young boy Bob played guitar in the Drinkwater band. They played and sang at numerous weddings and funerals all over the country. Bob married Addie Fessler on March 6th, 1943. Bob and Addie farmed in the Drinkwater area until they retired in 1978. After retirement, they lived in Moose Jaw and spent winters in Arizona where they met so many nice people. Bob spent many years enjoying being a member of the Shriners Oriental Band and Gourmet Club, joining in 1957. He was actively involved as a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1944. He always had the ball game, football game, hockey, curling or golf on TV. Bob was a member for many years of the Hillcrest Golf Club and one season enjoyed playing 132 rounds of golf. Bob loved to paint and cook. Bob volunteered his time along with Addie at the Providence Hospital and Providence Place. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Addie Ferguson; children, James Ferguson and Suzanne Ferguson; his parents, Robert and Mary Jane Ferguson; sister, Kathleen and in-laws: Clifford and Thelma Elder, Ken and Hazel Coward, Bill and Phyllis Fessler. Bob is survived and will be dearly missed by his children: Bob (Pat) Ferguson, Mary-Lou Ferguson and Doug (Pat) Ferguson; six grandchildren: Scott, Jason, Dawn, Jackie, Michelle and Cade; great-grandchildren: Tara, Heather, Jesse, Colton and Jordan; sister-in-law, Marlene (Dale) Hannah; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Pioneers Lodge, Extendicare and Providence Place for their compassion and care of Dad. ACelebration of Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK with Warren Elder presiding. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Sick Children c/o Moose Jaw Shrine Club, 1767 Main St. North, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 1L6.
