Adelaide W. Ferguson
On Monday, May 4th, 2009, Addie Ferguson, wife, mother, grand-mother, great grand-mother, sister, sister-in law, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 88 years with her family by her side after her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Adelaide W. Fessler in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan August 31st, 1921 to John and Vera Fessler. She was the third daughter of a family of four girls and one boy. She attended Drinkwater School where she graduated and later she attended business college at Balfour Tech. She moved to Ottawa and worked as a civil servant for two years during the war. She met and married Robert Ferguson on March 6, 1943. They have three children Bob, Mary-Lou and Doug. Bob and Addie farmed in the Drinkwater area until they retired in 1978. After retirement, they lived in Moose Jaw and spent winters in Arizona, where they met so many nice people. Addie was a member of the Eastern Star joining December 16, 1944. She was Worthy Matron in 1950 and 1951. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the Nile since 1962. She was a member of the WaWa Auxillary and volunteered her time at the Providence Hospital and Providence Place. Addie is predeceased by her parents, John and Vera Fessler, sister Thelma Elder, brother William and sister-in-law Phyllis, and two children in infancy, James and Susanne. Addie is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, Robert; three children Robert Jr. (Pat) Ferguson, Mary Lou Ferguson, and Doug (Pat) Ferguson; six grand children Dawn, Jackie, Scott, Jason, Michelle, and Cade; seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law Cliff Elder; sisters Hazel Coward and Marlene Hannah; brother-in-law Dale Hannah; numerous nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Moose Jaw at Moose Jaw Funeral Home (268 Mulberry Lane) on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 1:30 PM. Warren Elder, Addie’s nephew will officiate and burial will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made in Addie’s name to the Shiners Hospitals for Children.
