Wilfred David Blair Ferbrache
Wilfred David Blair Ferbrache, aged 81 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Victor; and sisters, Dorothy and Alberta. Wilf is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; sisters Lesley, Winnie, Linda and Kathleen; brothers Eugene, Vernon and Jules, his children: Kerri (Ken), Blair, Debra Ann, Joanne, Wilfred David, Michael Darin, Perry, and Theresa; and step-daughter, Lori. Wilf had a challenging start to his life as, at the age of 10, he had to take on the responsibility of looking after his sisters while their mother was away. He started driving trucks at the age of 15 and retired from trucking 40 years later. During this time, he drove long haul and locally, and travelled all over North America. He worked various jobs after that but mostly loved being an addictions counsellor at the Angus Campbell Center, saying it was the best and most rewarding 6 years of his life. Wilf loved to sing and play his guitar, and listen to county tunes. He loved to be in his backyard entertaining his family and friends. Wilf loved his pets, Gypsy was his best buddy and Sadie was his little sweetheart. A Celebration of Wilf’s Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Surtees, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
So sorry to hear this Liz. I enjoyed serving Wilf at the store and always loved the smile he shared.
Dear Liz, Don and I were saddened and surprized to hear that Wilf had passed. How ironic that this past week I was telling our grown Son about how Wilf, as a Career Counsellor back in 1996, had helped me so much in getting back into the work force. Also how you and Wilf welcomed the group and spouses into your home for a potluck at the end of the course and how wonderful the two of you were to all of us. I shared with my Son some of Wilf’s life experiences, some not so good and then those that were positive. Wilf taught me, through his own confessions, that we’re all responsible for whatever happens in our life and we have choices – that we have to own our actions – good or bad. His counselling changed my life and my family’s for the better. I’m sure he changed others lives for the better as well.
Wilf did portray how much he cared and loved his family, however, he kept that information close to his heart, some regrets I think. He would talk about his lovely and caring Wife, Liz, who came along later in life and how he loved and treasured her immensely. He was truly gifted and shall be missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. May you find comfort and peace as time goes by. Again, our deepest sympathy.
