Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our dear aunt Joan. We will treasure all the great memories of her visits and conversations over the many years since I was a young child. She will be fondly remembered and admired for her inquisitive mind, her interest in family history, world events, musical accomplishments and her strong spirit. Joan will truly be missed.

We will miss your musical interludes. Deepest sympathies to your family. From Bonny- Director of Administrative Services- The Bentley.
Goodbye, dear Joan . I speak about her , so fondly and often as I teach my own piano students .
We were so lucky to have known great Auntie Joan. Her thoughtful, quirky letters will be missed. She was a deep repository of facts and information and conversations with Joan were always so interesting. She will be missed.
We will miss you dearly Joan. You were a big part of our Bentley family
Joan was a formative influence. She was a family friend and taught me piano for six years,, along with the group theory & harmony on Saturdays(with the occasional pizza party). She espoused the values of hard work and attention to detail. We didn’t
have equal promise, but each had his/her own potential to develop. On one occasion I recall going to Darke Hall to perform with others who had successfully completed exams. I started off well, a Bartok piece I think, & halfway through
I forgot what I was doing. In that split second of panic I considered several options: bursting into tears, shuffling offstage to get my music, or, as I did, launching into
the closing bars of the piece, rising, smiling & bowing gracefully as we had been coached. I strode off stage, to the warm applause of a supportive parent group! Along with music we learned some life
lessons as well. Thank you for
your dedication Joan.
Joan, or Miss Faron, as I called her, was my piano teacher when I was in high school in Moose Jaw. I believe I was one of her first students when she moved home to care for her parents. I loved playing on her grand piano in her music studio. I remember her as being so encouraging and positive at all times. She had such a beautiful smile. The residents at the Bentley will dearly miss her music.
I met Miss Faron in 1967 when I was 7 years old and first started piano lessons. She was my teacher for 5 years while my Dad was stationed at the air base. Her passion for teaching, instilling music fundamentals, and sharing the sheer joy of making music provided a foundation that has stayed with me as I continued piano lessons. I have never forgotten making circles with my thumb and fingers, and have thought of Miss Faron many times over the years. A beautiful obituary that pays tribute to an unforgettable and wonderful person. Thoughts and prayers to her family.
