Sylvia Doris Ewens

Sylvia Doris Ewens, aged 63 years of Moose Jaw, SK, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016.  The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Dave Foley will officiate and interment will take place at Queen’s Cemetery in Calgary, AB at a later date.  She was born in Banff, AB to Arthur and Sophie Gorrigsen (née Tschritter).  The family moved to Calgary in 1962 and she stayed there until 2004 when she moved to Moose Jaw.  Sylvia had a love of collecting and always had many projects on the go.  She was talented, artistic, and had a laugh that would light up a room.  She made a life here in Moose Jaw and made many friends who became family to her.  She was often referred to as a social butterfly.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.  Sylvia is survived by her brother, Arthur Gorrigsen Jr.; sister, Bev (Ted) Dowdy; step-mother, Martha Gorrigsen; children: Phionna (Tyson) Wall and Jeremy (Nicole) Gorrigsen; grandchildren, Harmony and Taiya Arbeau; nieces: Trisa, Tara, Tanis and Jennifer Fleger, Diedree (Derek) Booth, Derek and Greg (Diane) Dowdy; and special people: Stephen Ewens, Chris Enright and Jason York.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
