Ronald C. Evans
Ronald C. Evans of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 23rd, 2009. Ron was born in Lawson on August 27th, 1928, the youngest son of Courtenay and Anna Evans. Ron grew up in Lawson and as a youth worked on the dray and delivered milk. At the age of 14 Ron became a farmer, continuing in this vocation until he retired in 1983. Ron was always an early riser, preferring to get his work done early so he could spend the time after supper doing things with and for his family. Ron married his wife Doris Halladay in 1954 and they spent 54 years together as husband and wife. They enjoyed curling (where they once scored an 8 ender), travelling together and camping with family and friends. Ron was a fisherman; an avid golfer; a ballplayer and fan, always cheering his favorite team the J’s no matter how they played. Ron and Doris moved to Moose Jaw where Ron worked for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance for the next nine years. He is a Life Member of I.O.O.F. and the Moose Jaw Good Sams Club. Ron will be sorely missed by his wife Doris, his daughter Barbara; his son Roland (Marilyn); and their 5 grandchildren Stacey (Kayne), Brittany, Kylie, Claire and Todd. He is also survived by his brother Fred (Laura), twin brother Don (Pat); sisters-in-law Peter and Audrey; brother-in-law Bruce; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share in a time of fellowship in the Harvey Room from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home following the burial service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Ron battled kidney disease for many years. Those so wishing, may make a donation in Ron’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #1 – 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, Sask. S7L 9Z9.
