Doris Evans
Doris Evans (nee: Halladay) of Moose Jaw passed away July 12th, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Doris was born in Riverhurst, Sask. Sept. 16th, 1927, the second youngest daughter of Barbara and Hugh Halladay. Doris later moved from Gilroy to Lawson with her family and made that her home until 1983 when she moved to Moose Jaw. In 1954 Doris married Ron Evans, they had two children, Barbara and Roland. Doris loved children and was very involved in their lives. She rarely missed a sporting event and even put her own concerns aside to assist with their 4-H horse projects. In her early years Doris worked at S.S Kerr general store. She enjoyed curling and once scored an eight ender. She was at home in the kitchen on top of cooking many great meals for family and friends as well as people working on the farm. She also made a lot of cakes for weddings. She will also be remembered for her butter tarts. Doris was a life time member of the Rebekah’s lodge. She was an honorary member of the Moose Jaw Good Sams. Doris enjoyed volunteering at the Mental Health Assoc., in the early days at the Food bank, and on the Board of Thunder Creek Rehab. Doris’ greatest joy in life was her five grandchildren. She enjoyed all of their activities and spending time with them. In the last few years she enjoyed watching her grandson Todd play hockey and Ball. Doris is predeceased by her husband Ron. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Barbara; her son Roland (Marilyn); her five grandchildren Stacey (Kayne), Brittany, Kylie, Claire and Todd; her sisters Pete Folliott and Audrey Langauger; her brother in laws Bruce Hatley, Fred Evans (Laura), Don (Pat) Evans, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Doris will be laid to rest in an open graveside service at Sunset cemetery on Friday July 17, 2009 @ 1pm. Everyone is then invited for lunch and the chance to celebrate Doris’s life at Moose Jaw Funeral Home between 2 and 4 pm., following the graveside service.
