THELMA LORRAINE ELLIOTT
It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Thelma Elliott, on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK.
Thelma was born in Moose Jaw to Elgin and Ena Horton on December 13th, 1926. Her parents were landowners in the Archydal area west of Moose Jaw on farmland originally homesteaded by her ancestors, the Rathwell family. Thelma remained in Moose Jaw, attended Central Collegiate Institute, then went to work for the Saskatchewan Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She married Bill Elliott in 1951 and raised their family. Bill and Thelma owned and operated Elliott Motors for 25 years until retirement. Way back in 1950, Bill and Thelma were two of the original owners of lake-front property at Buffalo Pound Lake, which they enjoyed for many, many years, creating memories and celebrating holidays with their friends and family. These are now a wonderful legacy for her children and grandchildren.
After retirement, Thelma spent eight winters in the mild climate of Victoria, BC where she loved walking, sightseeing, and going to restaurants. In her later years, Thelma moved into Mulberry Estates where she enjoyed the company of the staff and many friends.
Thelma’s passion was her family, and she taught them the joy of caring, sharing, and the art of being positive and uplifting. Very seldom did she criticize or offer negative judgement. She was a wonderful mentor and through her actions she instilled love in all her family members. She was highly active in the everyday lives of her children and grandchildren. Her love, support and devotion to her family will be missed, and our wonderful memories of Thelma will provide peace and comfort during the days ahead.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Elliott; grandson, William Elliott; relatives: Leonard, Betty, Ann, and Glen Horton; and niece, Barbie Elliott Ross. Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her children: Patty Bruce (Jim), Bill Elliott (Shirley), and Donna Moulding (Keith); grandchildren: Tanya (Ron), Linsey (Kelly), Kimberly, Ashley (Daryle) and her mother, Cindy Wilson, Jackie, and Joana and their father, Vic Bruce; great-grandchildren: Noah, Raeleigh, Brittney, Jordan (Bobbi), Winston, Alivia, Austin, Tayja, Braylon, Matthew, and Hunter; and relatives: John and Lloyd Horton, Bob Urwin, Dennis Henderson, the Landages, Bob and Sherry Elliott, and Ken Ross.
The family would like to thank Thelma’s neighbours at Woodlily Gardens, the staff at Mulberry Estates, Dr. VanHeerden, Joanne at TLC Pharmacy, the amazing staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, and a special thankyou to Miriam’s Home Care.
The family has decided to honor Thelma privately and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Our condolences to your family, A mother holds a family together. Wishing you peace while you mourn and hope that you share your wonderful memories of your Mom. My mother, Beryl McLaughlin, loved her Aunt Thelma and made sure to visit when she traveled west with my sister and I. When I married I was fortunate to visit your mom, my great Aunt, when my family traveled west from Ottawa across Canada on our millenium project in 2000. We were fortunate to visit Aunt Thelma and Donna. Aunt Thelma wanted our children to visit the tunnels under Moose Jaw and everyone enjoyed that immensely. Your Mom was proud to show off her beloved city. Our thoughts and prayer are with you all. A wonderful life lived.
Thinking of you all and your families.
May her Memory be Eternal.
Sincere sympathies. Your Mom was a wonderful person. Thinking of her and all of you… celebrate a life well lived
Dear Elliot family, my wife Lucia and I would like to offer our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Thelma. My mother, Joyce Dalgarno (Rathwell) often spoke fondly about Thelma – her cousin – and their great friendship. I know Thelma was devastated when Joyce passed. I vividly remember seeing Thelma on the street afterwards tear up and reminisce about Joyce. It was very powerful. I trust they will reconnect in heaven.

My deepest sympathy to family.I knew Thelma for many years .A true friend and Avon customer.Always up beat and with great stories.
Donna, Bill and Patty, sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your mom. Thelma plays a big part in my childhood memories. She made the best birthday cakes with money wrapped inside for us to find. She always welcomed us in to visit or go for food to the A&W and later McDonalds with you. Sleepovers, in town and at the lake and the best bacon and cheese melts for breakfast. I am so thankful for all of the great times spent with your family. Hugs from me and Mike. May she live on in your hearts and memories.
My condolences on the passing of Thelma Elliott, which is bringing back so many memories.
When I was a young boy growing up in Moose Jaw, I would go around to car dealerships to look at the new cars and gather up brochures. I remember the 1958 Plymouth well, green I think at Elliott Motors. My uncle Norman Lamb who lived in Tuxford also sold Plymouths at his garage.
Later on I purchased a 1958 green Chrysler New Yorker sedan from Elliott Motors which had been owned by a banker, trading in a 1955 Dodge Custom Royal I had purchased in Regina, both vehicles had the first hemi engines. A couple of years later I purchased a rare green 1967 Plymouth Satellite convertible at the dealership, which I should have kept. I almost ordered a Plymouth Road Runner in 1969 which would have been a keeper. I always liked Plymouths, later I had a 1967 GTX, a very rare 1969 CUDA 383, and almost purchased a 1970 Hemi Cuda convertible (now worth millions) when we moved to Saskatoon.
To Donna and family. So very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Bring all your cherished memories around you to help you through this difficult time. May she Rest In Peace
Thelma’s near century presence with family and friends will carry on in our hearts and minds well into the future. Her warm and very sincere heart was gifted continually over her years to her children who were nourished all her lives by her devotion to them. They are bearers of this precious legacy , passing it’s practice to their family. It’s sorrowful when a loved one passes into Great Peace; my love reaches out to my cousins and their family. I will keep her in my heart.
I was so sorry to hear of Thelma’s passing. She was such a lovely , kind person. I will be thinking of you all during this difficult time.
