Myrtle (Silverson) Dyck
Myrtle (Silverson) Dyck passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 10 th, at the age of 64 years. Myrtle was born in Kelowna, B.C. on December 31 st, 1942 to Sophie and Joe Silverson and grew up on the family farm south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1965, Myrtle married Gordon “Sonny” Dyck and they moved to Regina to work and raise their family. From 1981 to 1988 their loving partnership expanded into business as they fulfilled a shared dream by operating Gord’s Avonhurst Texaco in North Regina. Through all this time Myrtle was very active in the community in and around the Normanview neighbourhood, volunteering for school and community association activities while working, raising a family and running a business. In 1988 they returned to the family farm and Myrtle began working at Western Dodge in Moose Jaw. Myrtle was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, godmother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Gordon “Sonny”; son: Mark (Cindy) Dyck and daughter: Wanda (Darcy) Rusk; sisters: Mary Ann (Jim) Bone of Tecumseh, Michigan and Donna (Jerry) Marchak of Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren: Ben and Robyn Dyck of Regina and Lauren and Thomas Rusk of Prince Albert, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home ( 268 Mulberry Lane ). The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 15th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Father Walter Smith officiating . Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery in Kayville, Saskatchewan. Donations in Memory of Myrtle may be sent to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, Sask. S4T 7T1, whose wonderful doctor’s and staff provided compassionate care and treatment to Myrtle for 18 years; or to the Moose Jaw Palliative Care Program c/o Financial Services, Five Hills Health Region, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw Sask. S6H 1H3.
