Olga Duchak
Olga Duchak passed away peacefully at Extendicare on July 1st, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Canora in 1922. Olga was predeceased by her parents, William and Nellie Habuza. She was raised with four brothers: Mike, Steve, John and Jack; and four sisters: Mary, Lena, Ann and Kathleen. Olga came to Moose Jaw with her mother in 1940. Here she worked at the Grant Hotel and Old World Café. She loved to attend dances at Temple Gardens with her friends. She met the love of her life, Metro Duchak, and in 1942 they were married. In 1960, Metro began building their home at 35 Home St. E. They took care of Olga’s mother all her life. Olga loved gardening and took pride in her flowers. She loved cooking and baking. Her sister Ann taught her to crochet. Olga had a love for birds and had two budgies named Nickie and Sammy. Olga and Metro attended St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where they spent many hours of making perogies and cabbage rolls. They were very generous with their many nieces and nephews, each visit they left with some kind of treat. Olga always had a smile on her face and was always laughing – she made us all very happy! Olga has left to mourn, her sister, Kathleen Phillips; sisters-in-law, Olga Hirt and Mona Duchak; brother-in-law, Fred Duchak; as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 5th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Father Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, July 4th, 2013 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Olga’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Assoc. of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 – 2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
