Robert Edwin Draper
Robert Edwin Draper, aged 74 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Thursday, August 27th, 2015. At Bob’s request, a Private Family Service will be held. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Daisy Draper; brothers-in-law, Rolland Lariviere and Robert McVittie; and special nephew, Tyler Lariviere. Bob leaves behind to mourn: his brothers, Donald (Joann) Draper of Hot Springs, Arkansas and David (Rose) Draper of Petaluma, California; sisters: Sandra McVittie of Clive, AB, Sheila (D’Arcy) Dann of Moose Jaw, SK and Susie Lariviere of Sun Valley, Buffalo Pound Lake; as well as his nieces and nephews that will cherish their memories of “Uncle Bob”. Bob began life’s journey on January 30th, 1941 at his grandparent’s home in Toronto, ON. Spending his early years in Ontario and Quebec, he moved to Moose Jaw with his family in 1957. Finishing high school at St. Louis College, he then went to Royal Roads Military College in British Columbia. Bob decided that a military career was not for him and he returned to Saskatchewan to begin a future in banking. In 1963, a car accident changed his life’s direction once again. After a hard fought and long recovery, he started a career in accounting working for the Government of Saskatchewan. Bob worked in Regina, Prince Albert and then returned to Moose Jaw to finish his career at Valley View Centre. Due to failing health, Bob took early retirement but remained active in his chosen interests. He worked hard to maintain his independence, spending time with many different organizations that helped other disabled people to achieve and maintain their independence as well. Bob was also a member of the Moose Jaw Ham Radio Club, becoming known as “VE5RED”. He enjoyed people and always had time for a game of pool, a cup of coffee or a chat with his many friends. Failing health slowed his lifestyle down but he remained optimistic and loved a good joke. He will be missed. Thank you to the staff at Chateau St. Michael’s for their friendship to Bob this past year. Thank you also to Todd Sjoberg at Moose Jaw Funeral Home for his compassion at this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Abilities Council, 2310 Louise Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7J 2C7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
