Art Downton

Art Downton, born June 21st, 1945 at Kincaid, SK, passed away on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 in Edmonton, AB.  Art will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.  He fought Cancer head on until his final days, and he is now at peace.  He passed away peacefully in his sleep on his terms, and for that we can all find happiness in our hearts.  Art was a genuine, hardworking, strong man but above all else he was known as a straight shooter. The son of Edward and Flora, Art grew up in Boharm/Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  This is where he made a name for himself playing hockey, baseball and curling. Art will be forever missed by his son, Jay Ryan (JR) Downton; brothers, Ernie (deceased), Al (deceased), Garry, and Garth; and sister, Edna.  Art also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. A Celebration of Art’s Life was held on Thursday, June 21st, 2018 at the Little Brick Café in Edmonton, AB with a tribute given by Jay Downton.  Art wanted this to be a gathering enjoyed by all.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Art’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.  Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
