Edward Franklin John Downey
Edward Franklin John Downey, aged 57 years of Moose Jaw, Sask., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, March 24 th, 2007. A Friendship Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 31 st, 2007 from 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #59 (268 High St. W.). Ed will forever be remembered by his wife Linda of 38 years; children: Bryce, Laurel (Tyler), Corrin (Brent); grandchildren: Rylan and Mason Downey, Tyson Downey, Ostyn Downey and Alexander Strauch; parents, Sam and Isabelle Downey; siblings: Shelda(Bernie)Hutton-Sharp, Patrick, and Beverly; nieces and nephews: Wenda (Ken), Tara (Dennis), Darla (Dan), Jeff (Kim), Danny (Lesley) and Mike; mother-in-law, Thelma Mews; sister-in-law Marsha Muldoon; brothers-in-law: Dennis Muldoon (Bonnie) and his children, Chris (Trish), Scott (Angela) and Ian; Ken (Barb) and their children, Tara and Jordy; Albert (Mary); extended family, Gordon, Patti, Les and Sandy; and dear friends: John and Carol, Orv and Jo (Joy-anne), Ian and Lynne. Ed was born on October 18 th , 1949 at Moose Jaw . Ed and Linda were high school sweethearts. His occupations included working at Monarch Gulf Gas Station and meat manager at EconoMart & in 1979 he became owner & manager of the Hub Meat Market. He was an avid sportsman, especially enjoying boating, camping, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, summers at the cabin, walking in nature, being with friends and telling jokes. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985. He enjoyed life and lived it fully. His priority in life were his grandsons. Ed was the definition of “true grit”, he never gave up, never quit & never complained. He was the one thing that kept us all together. Donations made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 150 Albert St. Regina, Sask., S5R 2N2 in Ed’s name, would be appreciated by the family.
