Hazen Dow
January 23rd, 1939 – June 17th, 2009
Hazen passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 in Providence Place, Moose Jaw where he has resided for the past two and a half years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years Marlene; his sons Gregory and Kevin (Karen); special grandsons Joshua and Colton; special niece Barbara; sisters Brenda Goulden, Fay Roman, Jerene (Jud) Ringer and Roxanne Dow; brother Larry (Brenda) Dow; nieces Tricia (Edgar) and Stacey; nephews Todd (Peggy), Brandon and Steven; sister-in-law Ardelle (George) Kuchinka; brothers-in-law Maynard and Clair (Remy); and sisters-in-law Verna, Dorothy, Noreen and Evelyn. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Vivian Dow; infant brother Wade; father and mother-in-law Hulbert and Barbara Woolsey; brothers-in-law Hulbert, Horace (Edith) Eldon, Leonard (Alice) Boyd, Donald, Rowland (Collene), Gerald (Myrtle) and Marj. Hazen married Marlene Woolsey in 1963 and managed a service station until they moved to Craik in 1964 where he operated the Shell Bulk Farm Business. In 1965 Hazen moved his young family to the farm house he grew up in. He farmed in the Penzance-Craik district for the next 45 years. The family continues to farm the land he worked so hard for. Hazen belonged to 4-H Beef Clubs as a boy and led a 4-H group. He was a councillor for the R.M. of Sarnia for twenty years. Hazen worked for the Progressive Conservative Party both provincially and federally. He belonged to numerous farm groups and subscribed to all the farm publications. Special thanks to all the staff at Providence Place who cared for him. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Rev Doug Shepherd will officiate and burial of cremains will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Penzance Cemetery, Penzance, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hazen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 12th Ave., Regina, Sask.
