Joyce Douglas
Joyce Douglas, 91, of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Joyce was born in Middlesbrough, England on March 10, 1925. As a young girl, Joyce enjoyed riding her bike to the ocean and spending time at her grandmother’s store. When Joyce was 16 she joined the British Army where she was charmed by a young Canadian soldier, Earl Douglas. They were married in England in 1945, moved to Canada after the war, and raised their family in Moose Jaw. Joyce provided a loving and nurturing home. Her family fondly remembers her famous chocolate chip cookies and Sunday roasts. They also enjoyed Joyce’s colorful stories about her childhood adventures in England. Joyce had a love of baseball; often taking her girls to local games, and was especially fond of the Blue Jays. She also enjoyed bowling; participating in league bowling every Thursday for many years. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, David Earl Douglas; daughter, Pam Roffey; son-in-law, Allen Johnson; and her beloved dog, Buffy. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bev Johnson; grandchildren: Lori (Jim) Paterson and their children, Amy and Liam; Jeff (Ashley) Roffey and their children, Kaileya and Myälle; and Greg (Ginny) Roffey and their children, Jael and Lincoln; and extended family in Canada and England.
