Alicia Ann Douglas
On Monday, June 9th, 2014, our beloved “Angel Girl”, Alicia Ann Douglas, lost her hard fought battle with cancer. Surrounded by peace, love and held in her mother’s arms, the angels carried her home. Alicia Ann Douglas was born in Moose Jaw, SK on April 29th, 2000. She was a Grade 8 student at Prince Arthur Community School and a Corporal with the Moose Jaw 1856 Army Cadet Corps. She was an accomplished actress and was introduced to acting by her Auntie Brenda in the Tom Sukanen movie “Sisu”. She got to attend the premiere with her Aunt and cousin Chayse and decided she was going to be a famous actress. She also performed in the play “Two Rooms of Grace” with the Moose Jaw Community Players, and was in the Rhubarb Productions “The Sound of Music”. She belonged to the theater group, Mad Hatters and thrived on the acting, singing and choreography. She had belonged to the Moose Jaw Youth String Orchestra and played violin. She loved to make her violin sing. She was a true performer that loved all the fine arts. Alicia will always be loved and remembered by her parents, Danielle Moquin-Douglas and Clifford Douglas; her devoted brothers, Timothy and Gregory; and her special furry buddy, Molly. She will also be forever cherished by her great-grandmother, Eva Moquin; grandparents: Diane Frechette, Fred Douglas (Donna), Andre and Debbie Moquin. Devoted to her memory are her aunts and uncles: Marc, Carrie and Steven, and Brenda. Every life she touched, she shared something special. She shared her warmth, strength and love with one and all. Her many special friends are dealing with a broken heart today. She took pieces of many hearts with her that will take a long time to heal. She leaves behind an extremely large extended family. Thanks to Alicia and her Uncle Bob Kidd, her extended Kidd-Moquin families had two very joyful reunions with our very special young woman. Love and laughter surrounded Alicia and her brothers and life was celebrated and enjoyed. Illness and the outside world were left behind, and just being kids was the order of the day. She loved being like a little sister to her cousins Wyatt, Colton and Chayse. They treated her with a very special love and tenderness and they will sorely miss her. We would like to thank all the special people that shared Alicia’s unmapped road with us. They told us during our first meeting, Alicia may have the cancer, but her family would also suffer from the disease. But like ripples in a pond, the disease spread far beyond our immediate family. Prayer groups included Alicia, and sometimes all they knew of her was a beautiful young lady, needing a miracle. We did not get the miracle we hoped for, but a miracle was provided. We had a wonderful fun and love filled Christmas, she brought some beautiful loving people into our lives and she got to see the sun shine, the grass turn green, and her flowers grow. Drs. Haq, Brown and Tai, gave us the gift of time with Alicia. The nurses at the Allan Blair – Helen, Natasha and Heather – provided her with love, support and encouragement whenever the journey got rough. Our families were there with us every step of the way and they anticipated Alicia’s every need and want. They helped keep our spirits up when things got rough. Our special Palliative Care nurses helped us keep Alicia calm, peaceful and pain free. Auntie Jo and Auntie Max answered the call for help when it was needed. Auntie Jo would do whatever she needed to do to keep Alicia clean and comfortable. Alicia could feel the love and felt safe and trusted us. Mr. Marcotte and Mrs. Couzens from school, kept her up to date on her friend’s activities and kept her part of her class. To the families and strangers that helped support us, a simple thank you is not enough. James and Todd, helped keep Alicia’s dignity intact and treated her with care and tenderness. Alicia was a great teacher. She taught us all about love and love is the greatest gift of all. A Celebration of Alicia’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Moose Jaw Alliance Church, 14 Neslia Place, Moose Jaw, SK. Sister Marie Moquin will officiate. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
