JAMES EDWARD DIXON
July 6th, 1935 – November 23rd, 2015
James Dixon passed away on Monday, November 23rd, 2105 at the age of 80 years, with his loving family by his side. James (Jim) was born on July 6th, 1935 in Charlottetown, PEI. He was raised and educated in Prince Edward Island. In his late teens, he travelled west and settled in Lafleche, SK where he worked as a farmer and on a construction crew until the local principal persuaded him to complete his education, which he did. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Education. Jim worked as a foreman on the Idylwyld Freeway in Saskatoon before taking a job in 1970 at S.T.I. in Moose Jaw, SK, where he was an instructor in Administration/Retailing. In 1973, he was Head Instructor in Administration/Retailing and in 1985 became the Department Head for Administration/Marketing. Three years later, he was appointed Extension Coordinator for the Business Division and travelled to the four corners of the province setting up extension courses. Jim retired in the year 2000. Jim was a kind, thoughtful, generous man who enjoyed people. He had a subtle sense of humour, gave unconditional love, and was always helping others without asking for anything in return. His family was his pride and joy. Jim enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and gardening, which he found very therapeutic. He was a first class handyman. Using his talents in woods and electricity enabled him to build a beautiful cabin in Cypress Hills Provincial Park. He was predeceased by his mother, Marion Dixon; father and step-mother, Arthur and Marion Dixon; sisters and brothers-in-law: Eunice and Tom, Michael and Shirley, and Robert Turney; father-in-law, Albert Sewell; mother-in-law, Dorothy Sewell; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim is survived by the love of his life and will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine; children, Ronalda (Tom) Busch and Deanna (Mike) Krauss; grandchildren: Kayla, Vicki, TJ and Abby Busch, and Ashtyn and Kytana Krauss; brothers-in-law, Ronald Sewell and Douglas Sewell; sister-in-law, Carol Bobryk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, a Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 28th, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery. Friends and family wishing to attend are asked to arrive at Moose Jaw Funeral Home by 12:30 p.m. to leave in procession to Sunset Cemetery. A Time of Fellowship will follow in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jim’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. We would like to thank everyone for their kind words, phone calls, sympathy cards, flowers and food. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the hospital and Pioneers Lodge in Moose Jaw. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
