Charles Olos “Slim” Debolt
Charles Olos “Slim” Debolt, aged 82 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away Saturday, January 14th, 2012. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 19th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. Slim was born in Saskatoon, SK on November 30th, 1929. Slim attended school in Coderre, SK until grade four. At 16, he went to Scotland for three years to work on a farm. He returned to Canada and enlisted in the army where he served in the Korean War in 1951. He married Marylou Reid in 1952. He was employed by the Moose Jaw Fire Department for 27 years, which rivaled his time with his love of farming. The farming era ended in 2003 when Slim retired. He was predeceased by his wife, Marylou; and sisters, Katherine Graham and Dorothy Tripp. Slim is survived by his four daughters: Louanne (Dave) Shropshire, Sandi Forman, Wanda (JP) Debolt and Heather Bettke; grandchildren: Misty-Sue Shropshire, Melissa (Brian) Pierce, Russell Shropshire, Cole Forman, Mitch Forman, Kim (Jamie) Graham, Kiel (Ashley) Bettke and Reid Bettke; great-grandchildren: Cooper Shropshire, Liam Purton, Cameron Graham and Mason Pierce; step-mother, Eloise Ritchie; special friend, Alice Meyers; sisters, Jackie (Percy) Balon and Edna Lynn (Doug) Nielson; brothers, John (Vicki) Debolt and Gary (Heather) Debolt; and numerous other relatives.
