Gordon “Brent” Davey
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon “Brent” Davey, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Sunday, April 28th, 2024.
Brent was born May 21st, 1949, in Swift Current, SK and was raised with his older sister Cheryl in Moose Jaw, SK until he was 3, when the family then moved to Saskatoon, SK. He finished his education in Saskatoon and had friends from school that he still saw occasionally. Brent met Marilyn in Saskatoon in 1967 and knew immediately that she was “the one”, even though she was on a date with another man at the time. They quickly began dating and married in 1968 and have been inseparable ever since. They had their two children, Cory and Rhona, soon after and never looked back. They moved several times throughout their married lives, living in Calgary, Saskatoon and Lynn Lake before finally settling in Moose Jaw in 1974. They spent their time travelling to car shows and rod runs with their family and later in life discovered Nascar races and began going south for a few months every winter. After many years of touring throughout Florida and the eastern/southern States, they spent many of their last winters in Mesa, Arizona where they had a large group of friends from home to spend their time with.
Brent held several different positions throughout the years and met many lifelong friends along the way but was an entrepreneur at heart. Brent and Marilyn bought what is now CR Signs & Autographics in 1995, where he worked alongside his two children for many years. In 2008, he expanded the business to include Davey Rod, Custom & Restoration. Brent’s passion was classic cars, which he discovered at the age of 14 or 15, and the love affair continued for a lifetime. Brent and Marilyn have completed countless restorations over the years. Brent was known as a great source of information to many and was always willing to share his knowledge and skills. The rod shop finished so many beautiful vehicles and he was so proud of each and every one as it left, and always looked forward to seeing them on the road in the future. Brent was at work until just days before his passing as he was never one to sit still. It broke his heart to not be able to finish his most recent project himself and ended up relying on his family and friends to help get it finished and driving. His final wish was to make it to the Majestic’s Car Show with his 58 Mercury Commuter and was very pleased to see it there on display even though he was unable to attend.
In the early 2000’s Brent located his birth family and found he was not the last of 5 (as his research had told him) but the middle of 9 children. He was able to meet 4 of his siblings and their extended families and cherished his time with them.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Ellen Davey; sisters: Cheryl Meadows, Carole Trumble, and Margaret Jackson; and brother, Gilbert Barnes. Brent is survived by the love of his life, Marilyn; his kids, Cory (Carmen) Davey and Rhona (Darren) Johnson; his grandkids: Liam, Ethan (Teralyn), Devyn (TJ), Harper, and Ewan; as well as his large extended family and his lifelong groups of friends and car club members.
A Celebration of Brent’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Wildlife Federation Hall, 1396 3rd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK. The family requests if you have a classic car to please bring it to his memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brent’s name may be made to Lung Saskatchewan Inc, 2308 Arlington Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L3 or Sukanen Ship Museum, Box 2071, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7T2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Cara Ashworth Funeral Director 306-693-4550

We are so sorry that you have lost one of the best men in world. As you know we loved Brent as a brother. Near or far away both of you, Marilyn and Brent, are never far from our hearts. He was so special.
Marilyn: so glad we got to visit with you and Brent this past fall. I know that this was not unexpected but my heart still goes out to you! Brent was a terrific guy and the business you and he established is a legacy to be cherished. I know you will carry on with sadness but also with strength!
Marilyn and Family: “When someone you care about becomes a memory; their memory becomes
a treasure.” So sorry to hear of the passing of Brent. I remember the good times when we lived in Moose Jaw. May you find strength in the days and months ahead.
Marilyn, I am so saddened to hear of Brent’s passing. I remember both of you from car shows and rod runs. We always looked forward to visiting with you both. Don was so very appreciative and flattered when Brent asked him to do some specialty exhaust after Brent bought the bender. Both were talkers and car enthusiasts so the guys that have gone before us are likely standing in a circle and having a chat as they always did. Know that I am thinking of you and your family.
Our deepest condolences Marilyn to you and your family.

I first met Brent at Pittsburgh Glass when Bob and I worked with him in the 1970s. He was easy going, had a great sense of humor, and an easy laugh.
He fought a hard battle and I know he will be missed.

Dear Marilyn and Family: Sincere condolences to all on Brent’s passing. We always enjoyed visiting with Brent and you, Marilyn , at car shows, swap meets, and rod runs- the last I think was 2016 Superrun in Brandon when we camped beside each other. Had so much fun. Laughed so much our stomachs hurt. The first I think was camping at Animal Park in Moose Jaw back in the 80s. You were able to enjoy together the passion of cars through the business built. Brent will be missed by all friends and most by his family. Our heart and prayers goes out to you at this tough time
Very sorry for your loss Marlyn Cory and Rhonda he was a great guy
