Florence Ida Daniel (Moen)
Florence Ida Daniel (Moen), born September 1st, 1919 and passed away Wednesday, July 26th, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Nellie Moen; husband, Raymond and daughter, Darlene Nelson; as well as her sisters: Anna Meyers, Mabel Anderson, Bertha, Julia, and Frances Moen, Lillian Nagel, Agnes Holden, Andrea Kissner, and Gladys Shea; brothers: Nels, Noel, Peter, and Glen Moen; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Moen and Daniel families. After attending Teachers College and teaching in rural one room schools for three years, Florence married Raymond Daniel in 1942. They farmed in the Avonlea – Hearne District until 1969 when they moved to Nanaimo, BC. In 1991, they returned to live in Avonlea. Raymond passed away in 2007. Florence continued to live at the Avonlea Manor and due to declining health, moved to Pioneers Lodge in Moose Jaw where she resided until passing. Florence is survived by her sons, Paul (Georgina) of Avonlea and Don of Kamloops, BC; daughters, Dianne (Peter) Park of Sarnia, ON and Doris (Wilfred) Gross of Nanaimo, BC; son-in-law, Gary Nelson (Laural Jones) of Avonlea; sisters-in-law: Olive Moen, Pauline Miller, Pearl Miller, Marion Daniel, and Yolanda Daniel; brother-in-law, Henry (Joyce) Daniel; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Pioneers Lodge for the care and compassion shown to Florence. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Linda Owens officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Avonlea, SK following a time of fellowship after the service at the Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Florence’s name may be made for Recreational Activities at Coteau Range Manor, PO Box 60, Avonlea, SK S0H 0C0 or Five Hills Health Region/Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert St, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2Y2.
