Dan grew up on the family farm 1 mile southwest of Eyebrow, with great happiness while spending time with his family and friends there. He graduated with a degree in Theology from Aldersgate and then went on to work at various jobs for 5 years until finding his calling with the Moose Jaw City Police Department. There he helped many in their times of crisis as he deeply cared for people.
Dan sang at many funerals, weddings and other special occasions, as well as the National Anthem at first the Canucks, and then at the Moose Jaw Warriors hockey games for many years. He was well known and liked as “The Singing Policeman”.
Dan was predeceased by his loving wife, Darla; her parents Bill and Kay Lamb, and sister, Kathy Claypool; his parents, Lloyd and Ruth Cornish; sister, Bev (Dave) Wolfe; brothers, Gary and Bob; in-laws, Denise Cornish and Jerry Knelsen; and niece, Kimberly Cornish.
Left to cherish Dan’s memory are his son, Garra; brothers: David (Barb), Bryan (Marnell), and Bill (Carolyn); sisters, Kathy (Jim Kautz) and Cindy Knelsen (Mike Bechtold); in-laws: Ron and Susan Lamb, Barb Cornish, Dave Claypool, Edna Cornish-Hills, and Heather Cornish; many nieces and nephews who all loved their “fun Uncle Dan”; as well as several aunts, cousins, and friends.

To the Cornish Family, I am so very sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. My late husband and I were friends with him when he was a member of Moose Jaw police department; we invited him to be the MC at our wedding and he did a fantastic job with the best jokes. He will be missed.
Dear Garra and Cornish and Lamb families,
Our condolences go to each of you during this difficult loss.
Uncle Dan and Auntie Darla were wonderful, lovable and good people! I love them both very much and many of my favorite memories growing up in Saskatchewan include them both. Uncle Dan’s funny jokes, wit and laughter made the room jolly, his big hugs, and eager joy to spend time family made each of us feel special and loved by such a golly and lovable Uncle. I will remember how gracious and kind Uncle Dan, Auntie Darla and Garra were to us when we visited from Ontario and had us stay with them – always open arms. Thank you!
I know Uncle Dan loved his family very much, his community, his wife and son. What stands proudly in my mind was his great faith in Jesus. That faith shines brightly in my memory by his love, tears and joy in worshiping his Lord and Saviour.
May your soul, Uncle Dan, and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the great mercy of Our Lord, rest in peace.
Sing and pray for us Uncle Dan!
Our condolences and prayers, Andrea & Dennis, Luke, Joshua, Nathaniel, Abigail, Mary Teresa & Patrick

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dan. Our deepest sympathy to Darla and the rest of the family. I am sure he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Take care.
I am so sad to read this, he was a pretty good guy. My condolences to all of his family, to all who knew and loved him.
So sorry to hear about Danny. I have such wonderful memories of the Cornish family from growing up in Eyebrow, since many families felt like an extension of your own. Memories like going to the Cornish farm to ride horses, or just for a visit, and every Halloween when Mom and Ruth would get together at our house while all of us kids went out trick-or-treating. Another memory that I will always cherish is Danny singing at both Mom and Dad’s funerals. He had such a wonderful voice!
When you’ve been around someone your entire life, you tend to think you know them pretty well, and with Danny, he always seemed so full of joy and had that big laugh that was instantly engaging. It wasn’t until one of our last conversations, which was very deep and heartfelt, that I remembered how there is so much more to a person that we rarely see, and I will always hold on to that memory.
I am sincerely sorry that we are unable to attend Danny’s memorial, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
Hugs to all the Cornish families,
Marlys, Brent and Andie (and the Benson girls)
