Victor Cole

Victor Cole passed away to be with the Lord, his loving wife and beloved family who have gone before him on Friday, April 9, 2010. Vic was an inspiration to all who knew him and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an exceptional example of all that is good and kind and wise and was a wonderful Christian man. He will be remembered as a man who, by example, showed us how to live with great patience, kindness and a positive attitude. Vic was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After attending Peacock Collegiate, Vic worked for the RAF Ferry Command as an airplane electrical instrumentation technician and moved to Montreal during the second world war where he met his wife, Marion. After their marriage, Vic and Marion lived in Argentina for 2 years before moving back to Canada to make their home in Moose Jaw where they had 65 wonderful years together and raised three children. He and his close friend and business partner, Earl Nant, owned and operated Great West Auto Electric for the next thirty years. Over the years they had many business ventures, one of which was the Moose Jaw Downtown Bowling Centre. Upon retiring they enjoyed winters in Arizona for many years. Dad had been very active in the Moose Jaw Rotary, Shrine, and Kinsmen Clubs and loved to entertain and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He had a very active mind that he put to use with many hours spent on his computer until he lost his eyesight. Throughout the years Vic and Marion were able to travel to many different areas of the world, making life-long friendships wherever they went. Vic was predeceased by his wife, Marion, parents, Charles and Florence Cole, and sister, Gladys Paul. He is survived by his children, son David (Yvette) Cole of Ottawa and their children, Theresa Cole (Tommy Vavougious) and Barbara Cole (Guy Marcoux), son Chuck Cole (Maureen) of Moose Jaw and daughter-in-law, Jeannette Cole and their children, Curtis Cole (Allison) and Jasmine (Kent) Strom, daughter Christine (Mike) Ward of Moose Jaw and their children, Matthew Ward, Marshal Ward (Amanda) and Cody Ward (Bobbi), great-grandchildren George, Nicholas, Alexandria and Dimitri Vavougious, Tristan, Emma and Jacob Marcoux, Tylar and Charlee Strom; relatives and numerous nieces and nephews in the Toronto area and many, many great friends. The Funeral Service will be held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m Rev. John Carley is officiating.Dad’s wishes were to be cremated and a private interment will be held in the Cole family plot at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time. Dad had been struggling with being blind and various ailments in his later years and put up a very brave and strong fight until his final brief battle with cancer. He remained at home surrounded by those he loved and who loved him where he passed away peacefully. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CNIB or a charity of your choice.
