Laurette Coderre
It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Laurette Coderre (Tremblay) of Moose Jaw and formerly of Coderre, SK, on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 at the age of 86 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Henri and Dorilla Tremblay; husband, Edouard (Eddie); son, Claude; son-in-law, Elmer Peters; and brother, Lionel Tremblay. Laurette will be lovingly remembered by her children: Bernard (Sandra), Bernice, Joane (Royce) and Suzette (Garth); grandchildren: Alison, Tara, Leah, Bradley, Kimberly, Michael, Alanna, Megan and Melissa; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gisele Smith and Helen Uchacz (Benny); sister-in-law, Bernadette Tremblay; as well as numerous other relatives. Laurette was born in Courval, SK on June 23rd, 1927. She went to primary school in Courval, then continued her education at the convent in Gravelbourg. Upon completing a secretarial course, she worked as a legal secretary in Gravelbourg. On July 6th, 1949, she married Eddie Coderre and together they raised five children. She worked alongside Eddie and his brothers at E.B. Coderre and Sons General Store. Laurette was actively involved in all aspects of small community life, including C.W.L., the Girl Guides and Brownies. Her special skills as a seamstress often led her to being asked to make uniforms for the entire band or ball team. She worked as a librarian at Coderre School and spent many years teaching ceramics in the community. Upon retiring to Moose Jaw with Eddie in 1992, Laurette spent her days gardening, doing crafts, volunteering and supporting her grandchildren in their many activities. Laurette liked to keep busy and filled her days doing needlepoint, crocheting afghans and doing jigsaw puzzles. After Eddie passed away in 2011, she moved to High Park Towers and enjoyed many new friendships. Above all, time spent with her family was the most precious of all. She lived a long and fulfilling life and will be dearly missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 9th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the presiding celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurette’s name may be made to Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw Inc., c/o 1258 Mayberry Cres., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7B4.
