Douglas Clubbe
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Clubbe of Central Butte, SK, on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at the age of 88 years. Doug was the only child of Amos and Edna Clubbe, born on July 15th, 1935, in Chaplin, SK.
Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His true passion was to be a farmer, which he started at the age of 15 and continued until his retirement. Doug was proud of the fact that he became a land baron at the age of 10 years old when his Grandpa Eugene passed away.
Doug attended Pine Lake and Hayfield School. He met Nellie James, the love of his life, in Chaplin in 1954. They were engaged in the spring of 1956 and were married in Chaplin on November 12th, 1956. They were blessed with five children: Karen, Richard, Barbara, Cheryl, and Pamela.
Doug and Nellie raised purebred Charolais cattle along with the grain farming. He also took flying lessons in 1964 for a year. Doug loved spending time with his family and helping the kids with 4-H. He taught all the kids to water-ski, although he could not swim a stroke. Doug loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Doug and Nellie loved to travel and enjoyed visiting new places. He loved meeting new people and making new friends and having a cold beer.
Doug will long be remembered for his positive outlook on life, his laugh, and his willingness to help others.
He was predeceased by his parents, Amos and Edna, and oldest daughter, Karen. Left to cherish Doug’s memory are his loving wife, Nellie; son, Richard (Bonnie); daughter, Barb (Mark); daughter, Cheryl (Allan); daughter, Pam (Dale); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Iver Main for taking such good care of Doug for the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s name may be made to Central Butte Iver Main Place, Box 550, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
