Euclid (Eucie) Closs
On the morning of Wednesday, April 10th, 2013, Euclid (Eucie) Closs passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. The Memorial Service to Celebrate Eucie’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W. Moose Jaw, SK. Eucie was born June 24th, 1924 at St. Boswells, Saskatchewan. Eucie served overseas in the Second World War as a member of the Regina Rifles. After the war, Eucie met Dorothy Wellsch. They were married on March 2nd, 1946 and Moose Jaw became their permanent home. Eucie worked at Blackwood’s Hardware and later retired from Scott Ford where he worked as Sales Manager for several years. Dad was a natural athlete. He was an avid fastball player, curler, bowler, horseshoe player and he excelled at several other sports he was involved with. After retirement, Eucie and Dorothy spent many summers at their condo in Elbow where they both enjoyed golf and Dad loved to fish. During winters they traveled extensively, especially after taking up skiing. In retirement Dad also did a lot of woodworking and also learned to paint. He was a Legion and Anavets member, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a dedicated volunteer at Timothy Eaton Centre and Providence Place. Both he and Dorothy were very active with the church, serving as lay ministers and as members of the church choir for several years. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 2009; infant daughter, Mary; brother, Chet; and sisters: Anne, Viva, Mabel and Vera. Eucie is survived by his youngest brother, Claude. He will be sadly missed by his children: Brian (Glenda) of Edmonton, Brent (Brenda) of Moose Jaw, Lana (Pat) Klein of Regina, Tom (Christine) of Moose Jaw, and Dan (Andrea) of Regina; grandchildren: Nolan (Cathy), Nadine (Jesse) Griffith and Theresa Closs, Bonnie (Rob) Seabrook, Ryan Closs and Jenni (Dustin) Arndt, and Greg, Colleen (Matthew), Christine (Walker) and Erica Klein; great-grandchildren: Meika, Zidane, Eleana, Jackson, Sloane and Gaige. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Eucie’s name may be made to the Providence Place Foundation Inc. for Guardian Grove, 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.
