Nachhatter Chhokar
Nachhatter Chhokar, aged 94 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, June 24th, 2019. Nachhatter was born in India and lived there until 1990, when she moved to Moose Jaw to live with family. She always like to live her life to the fullest and going for walks with her great-grandchildren. She was always the happiest when she was with her family. Over the course of the years, more families came to Saskatchewan and Nachhatter became a respectful senior in the East Indian community. Santokh Singh Chhokar was always committed to take Nachhatter Kaur to Gurudwara every Sunday and she was well loved within the community. She was predeceased by her husband, Charan Singh Chhokar; and her brothers and sisters in India. Nachhatter will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Gian Kaur Chhokar; nephews, Santokh “Sid” (Harbans) Singh Chhokar and Surjit “Sam” (Kamaljit) Singh Chhokar; nieces, Surinder Kaur (Joga Singh) Sahota and Bhajan Kaur (Balbir Singh) Sanghera; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Giani Darshan Singh officiating. Bhog will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Gurudwara Sahib Regina at 3905 Princess Drive, Regina, SK. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Nachhatter Chhokar’s name may be made to “Gurudwara Sahib Regina”. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. How nice it was to hear Mrs. Chhokar was a very active person, but very sad that she had to pass away. My wife and I like to express our sincere sympathy to the family and some comforting words mention in the Bible that she could live again as mentioned in 1Corinthians 15:21,22.
