Fernande Marie Carignan
Fernande Marie Carignan, aged 85 years of Moose Jaw and formerly of Ponteix, Saskatchewan, passed away on Wednesday, June 12th, 2013 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. A Private Family Service will be held in Assiniboia at a later date. Fernande was born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan to Edgar and Adeline Bedard on June 20th, 1927. She attended high school in Ponteix, got her teaching certificate in Moose Jaw and began her teaching career in Vanguard. She married Marcel Carignan in April 1947. Fernande was actively involved in various organizations and service clubs, including numerous days of substitute teaching. She spent many hours at the sewing machine and enjoyed curling, golfing and bowling. Over the years, Fernande was president of “Les Dames de Ste. Anne” and “The Ladies of the Parish”, a local catering service. She was the secretary of the Recreation Board, Square Dance Club and the Figure Skating Club. Fernande is survived by her daughters: Dolores Arams of Medicine Hat, AB,Jo-Ann Carignan-Vallee (Dwight)of Assiniboia, SK, Linette Carignan (Larry) of Regina, SK and Lil Carignan of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren: Bridget (Garry) Fauser, Keith (Leann) Arams, Conrad (Debbie) Arams, Kevin (Ruth Ann) Arams, Jason (Jo-Ann) Godenir, Nathan Godenir and Clint (Crystal) Lamotte; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Michelle (1957) and her husband, Marcel Carignan (1982). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Capilano Court for the care and compassion they gave Mom during her years there.
