Allen Orville Cameron
Allen Orville Cameron had his prayers answered when he was called to Glory on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, at the age of 98 years, and reunited with the love of his life, Yvonne.
Allen met Yvonne while serving in the RCAF in Moose Jaw in 1943. They knew each other for about 6 weeks before Allen was transferred out, which took him to service in Britain, Italy, and Europe. Allen returned to Moose Jaw at war’s end and after a courtship of a few weeks, they were married. Their marriage lasted for 69 years when Yvonne passed away in 2014. Allen is survived by his son, Brett (Doris) of Halifax, NS; daughter, Cynthia (Brian Gummeson) of Nanaimo, BC; grandchildren, Michelle and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Lily and Zoey; a great-grandson to be born in November; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A special mention to Arlene Ayles, who was a special friend to Al and Yvonne and much to Yvonne’s delight, became her personal shopper, keeping her clothes closet more than full. Arlene was with him at his passing.
Allen’s greatest pleasures, aside from family and friends, were his music and singing. He played and sang in the RCAF Concert Band, Lion’s Club Adult Band, the Shrine Military Band and the Oriental Band. Allen was a founding member of the Bad Boys Sax Trio. He was active in several church and adult choirs. He highly valued his life-long memberships in both the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine. A special thank you extended to W/O Marlene Shillingford and CFB Moose Jaw, Don Purrington (ANAVETS Moose Jaw) and the Legion, who collectively made the last years of his life meaningful and very special. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their excellent care during Dad’s final days. Allen’s message to all his friends and family is “Be Happy for Me. I have had a long and wonderful life and look forward to being reunited with Yvonne, “Twinkle”. I could ask nothing more.”
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Majors Clarence and Karen Ingram of the Salvation Army will officiate and interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery at a later date. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/
Brett and family, Mr Cameron was a special person who lived an extraordinary life. He truly enjoyed people and gave of himself his whole life. His musical gifts gave smiles to many and his sense of humanity, duty and love of God allowed him to be shining light to everyone he met. May God’s comfort be with you as you cherish the memories in the days ahead. Lynn and Malcolm Macpherson
Our condolences to the family and friends of Allen Cameron.
Al lived a very good and long life. He loved his music and was very dedicated to the Air Force and his country Canada.
I can say that he was a very good helper and a self-starter. He never missed the opportunity to roll up his sleeves and help out and that he was well into his 90s.
Al also devoted much time to Providence Place, and he was there daily to be with his declining wife Yvonne.
Allen Cameron was a man that we look up to respect .

Our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
“There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they are gone.”

Our deepest sympathies Brett, Doris & family on the loss of your Father .
I always remember a sweet , gentle , kind voice on the other end of the phone when he would call into the office . A great sense of humour as well.
Our prayers and thoughts are with
you all at this time.
Our most sincere condolences to Brett, Cynthia and your families. Your Dad was a very special man, he always seemed to be looking at life from a positive perspective. My Dad had many good memories of his friendship with him and their Air Force background and involvement with the Legion and Anavets. He lived a full and productive life but it is still a difficult time when a parent passes. Our thoughts are with you.
I had the pleasure of meeting Allen during graduation ceremonies for pilots at 15 Wing. He was so loved by all who knew him and he meant so much and was greatly respected here in Moose Jaw.
Such an example of a life well lived.
He will be greatly missed.
Our condolences to his family.
Sincerely
