Lena Bueckert
It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Lena Bueckert, of Saskatoon and formally of Eyebrow, SK, announce of her passing. Lena passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, June 20th, 2019. She was predeceased by her grandson, Devin Smith; parents, Peter and Margaret Pancratz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Susan Bueckert; brothers-in-law: Ernest Dyck, Michael Hill, Phillip Kirkpatrick, Rudy Wiebe, Henry Klassen, John Bueckert, and Abraham Bueckert; sisters-in-law: Annie Bueckert, Erna Bueckert, Kay Bueckert, and Margaret Bueckert; and nephews Gordon Wiebe and Logan Bueckert. Lena will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Werner Bueckert; children: Renetta (Kelly) Smith, Sheryl (Garret) Hamilton, Sheldon Bueckert and Karen Diduck; grandchildren: Matthew (Ashley), Amber, Theresa, Allyson, Noah, Hailey, Davin, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Hadlie; sisters: Mary Dyck, Justina Wiebe, Margaret (Richard) Epp, Martha Hill, Hilda Klassen, Eva (Rueben) Bueckert, and Henrietta (Bing) Dobson; brothers-in-law: Jacob Bueckert, David Bueckert, Ernest Bueckert, Leonard (Claudine) Bueckert, and Edward (Anna) Bueckert; sisters-in-law: Katie Bueckert, Sadie Bueckert and Anne Bueckert; as well as her nephews, nieces and many close friends. Lena was born on June 2nd, 1936 to Peter and Margaret Pancratz of Truax, SK. She grew up on the family farm near Truax. After high school she attended SCBI in Swift Current where she met and fell in love with her husband, Werner. Werner and Lena were married on April 24th, 1965 and settled in Eyebrow to start their life together. Lena was a proud baptized member of the Eyebrow Mennonite Church and was active in the Eyebrow community. Lena worked at Eyebrow School as a caretaker for 15 years before retiring. Lena’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After a courageous battle with cancer, Lena passed peacefully. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff that work in Flex Unit 1 and 7th floor Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during Lena’s stay. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Eyebrow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lena’s name to the Canadian FoodGrains Bank, PO Box 767 Stn Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. My wife and I are sad to hear the bad news of Mrs. Lena Bueckert passing away. We would like to offer our sincere sympathy to the family and your friends. Also we want share the comforting word of hope in the near future as mentioned in 1Corinthians 15: 22-26.

So very sorry to hear of Lenas passing. I was looking at some of my old photos one day and came across some pictures that I took at one of our high school wind up banquets and there was this one particular picture of Lena playing the lead steel guitar and Martha playing rhythm guitar.
