NETTIE O. BROWN
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Nettie on Saturday, December 7th, 2013 at the age of 78 years. She passed away in Moose Jaw, after an 8 month battle with lung cancer. Nettie was raised in Manitoba and was a farm girl until she moved to Winnipeg, which was where she earned her nursing degree and eventually met and married the love of her life, Douglas Brown. Nettie spent the next 25 years of her life as an armed forces wife. Every time her husband was posted to another base, she made sure that everything was in order in our new home so that the move would be easier on everyone. She moved to Moose Jaw 40 years ago where she has resided since. Nettie was beautiful, caring and a devoted mother to her children. Predeceased by her husband, Douglas; Nettie is survived by her daughter, Cindy Staines (Douglas), grandchild Shane (April) and great-grandchildren Logan, Connor and Lorelei; son, Barry Brown (Dora), grandchildren Marilyn, Nadine (Ryan), great-grandchildren Tyson, Alaska, Zoya and Zamian; son, Alan Brown (Kelly), grandchildren Adam and Erin, and great-grandchild Levi; son, Dale Brown (Barb), grandchildren Nicole (Tim), Kristin, and great-grandchild Dustin. A Private Family Memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to her home for over 2 years, Chateau St. Michaels’ Care Home, 525 7th Ave. SE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 8B6. All donations will be used for specialized equipment such as a Brody chair or lift. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
