LEILA BERNICE BROOK
July 13th, 1915 – May 14th, 2015

LEILA was born, the youngest of four, on the family farm near Burch, (Brantford) Ontario in July 1915. While living in Brantford, LEILA married the love of her life Lawrence Gilbert Brook in 1944. They moved to Toronto, ON; the farm ‘up north’ near Clarksburg/ Thornbury ON; Scarborough, ON; and Richmond, British Columbia. After her husband passed away in 1985, LEILA moved to White Rock, BC, then to Surrey, BC where she settled with her son Peter and Gudrun. LEILA loved serving God in the churches she attended; and as a caregiver for many family members, spending time with friends and family at home and around the world, giving all of us a new perspective of our world. Even small details of nature were brought to our attention; flowers, gardens, rocks, birds, trees, and sunsets. Every life that was touched by LEILA, was showered with love, as she lived her exemplary life of loving God first. When health issues became difficult, LEILA settled with her daughter Cristina and Niko, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. LEILA passed away peacefully in the arms of Niko and Cristina Hasapis. LEILA was predeceased by her dear husband, of 41 years, Lawrence G Brook; his daughter, from his first marriage, Laura (Brook) St Jacques; sons-in-law Leo St Jacques and Clifton Barkley. LEILA was also predeceased by her parents Georgannie J (Robison) and Lewis A Chalk; siblings and their spouses, Morley L and Irene (Caskey) Chalk, and Elsie M (Edwards) Chalk, Deloss L and Muriel (Standon) Chalk, Leta M (Chalk) and Melvin Standon; nephews Sergeant Everett W Chalk, Sheldon Chalk, and Ronald Standon; nieces Evelyn (Chalk) Henderson, Helen (Standon) Mabbett; great nephew G Douglas Henderson; parents-in-law Fred and Florence (Gilbert) Brook; and sister-in-law Phyllis M Brook.
LEILA will be lovingly treasured in our hearts by- (from the youngest) son PETER A Brook and Gudrun Eichbauer, daughter CRISTINA Crystal (Brook) and Niko Hasapis, son LOWELL A and Jean Brook, son MORLEY G H and Susan Brook, LEILA’s husband’s children, (from his first marriage) son James and Bev Brook, and daughter Betty Barkley, and all of their families, including many extended family who lovingly called her Grandma. Two nieces MARION and Mel Westlake, and EVELYN and Tom Walley, and their families. Grandsons TERENCE K Brook and Teresa Blenkinsop, ANDREW L Brook and Ivy Wadden, and JOHN D Brook; great grandson CASEY N Brook.

The Interment Service will take place on Saturday, June 27th, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., in Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surrey, BC, with her husband Lawrence G. Brook.
