Earl Bristow

Earl Bristow, aged 93 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Monday, September 7th, 2015 at Extendicare Moose Jaw.  He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Henry Bristow and Lillian Maria Bristow (Evans); brother, Leslie Thomas Bristow; sister, Lorna Butlin; and brother, Douglas Arthur Bristow.  Earl was born July 14th, 1922 at Hazenmore, SK.  He attended Hazenmore School, finishing in the spring of 1941.  Earl attended Vocational Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan in 1941-42.  In 1942 Earl served with the South Saskatchewan Reserve Army at Dundurn.  In the winter of 1943 he trained at the Armouries in Moose Jaw.  In 1950-51, Earl attended the Provincial Institute of Technology at Calgary, AB, and in 1952-53 he worked at Silverwood Dairies in Edmonton, AB.  During the winter of 1957-58 he worked at Edmonton Motors.  Earl was also very involved with operating the family farm at Hazenmore during this time, and had assistance from his brother Doug.  In 1975, Doug left his teaching career and he and his wife Joyce joined Earl in a full-time farming career.  In 2000 they sold their farm and equipment, and several short years later Earl joined Doug and Joyce in Moose Jaw where he resided at Mulberry Estates, Chez Nous Senior Citizens Home, and finally at Extendicare.  Work was recreation to Earl and he never passed up an opportunity to walk a mile on the farm at Hazenmore, all the while picking rock and enjoying the outdoors.  Earl is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce Bristow; nephew, Murray (Robin) Bristow of Regina, SK; niece, Carolyn (Jeff) Talley of Louisville, KY; and nephew, Donald (Barb) Butlin of Moose Jaw, SK.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 18th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Pastor Doug Russell will officiate and interment will take place at a later date in Hazenmore Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Earl’s name may be made to The Gideons International, P.O.
