Arthur “Art” Braun
Arthur “Art” Braun of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20th, 2015 of respiratory complications. Art was the son of John and Maria (Dyck) Braun, and was born on May 19th, 1928 on the farm near Guernsey, SK. He was predeceased by his father and mother; a brother who died in infancy back in Russia; brothers: Edward, Cornelius, John Jr.; and Christian: and sister, Annie. Art is survived by his wife, Dora; daughter, Jewell (Tim) Vanstone of Lang, SK and their children: Tyler (Jolene) Vanstone of Moose Jaw, Amy (Wil) Lane of Spring, Texas, Derek (Grace) Vanstone of Kingston, ON and Heather (Zack) Vilagos of Regina, SK; son, Graham (Pam) and Haley Braun of Edmonton, AB; sisters, Margaret and Lena of Drake, SK, Naomi of Abbotsford, BC and their families. Art worked as a mechanic for most of his life, starting on the farm, getting his journeyman’s certificate in Regina, and finally teaching Adult Education Motor Mechanics at SIAST Palliser Campus from 1975 until his retirement in 1988. That position brought him great pride and joy, and allowed him to bring his love of cars home with him to his own garage and family for many years. He also enjoyed music, particularly vocal quartets, camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time on road trips with his family. Art’s incredible bass voice was one of his most memorable features and was instantly recognizable to anyone who knew him. May his grieving family and friends let that stirring note toll forever in their hearts, and may it never be silenced. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 25th, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Russell will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Art’s name may be made to the Echo Lake Bible Camp, 806 SK-56, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK S0G 1S0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
