Audrey Doris Bradfield

On Saturday, January 7th, 2017, Audrey Doris Bradfield passed away at Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, SK.  Doris would have been 96 years old in March.  In keeping with Doris’ wishes, there will be no Funeral Service and interment will take place at a later date.  Doris was born on March 23rd, 1921 in Whitley Bay, England to Nathaniel and Audrey Wakeham.  Later on, Doris and her family moved to Leeds, England.  During the war, while working as a Red Cross nurse, she met and married Bert Bradfield.  Doris and Bert moved back to Canada in 1946 and resided in Woodrow, where they farmed.  They had one daughter, Audrey in 1952.  Doris stayed busy as a farm wife who loved to cook and bake, her specialties being cinnamon buns and her all day spaghetti sauce.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and any kind of crafts.  Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Doris loved to travel back to England and made many trips to New Zealand as well.  Later on she joined Beta Sigma Phi in Gravelbourg.  Her and the ladies enjoyed their get-togethers and conventions.  Doris moved to Wheatland Lodge in Lafleche, SK for a few years, then moved to Prairie Villa in Assiniboia, SK in 2014.  Needing more care, she moved to Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg on December 6th, 2016 for a short period.  Doris had wonderful care in both places.  Thank you to the staff for the comfort and care she received.  She was predeceased by her husband, Bert; father, Nathaniel; mother, Audrey; and sister, May.  Doris is survived by her daughter, Audrey (Tom) James of Schuler, AB; her beloved grandchildren, Shane (Tara) Resvick of Winnipeg, MB and Heidi Lasante of Airdrie, AB; great-grandchildren: Ashley (Jesse) Romanow of Moose Jaw, Alex and Hunter Resvick, and Aurora Lasante; sister Nancy (Brian) Daniel if Ilkey, England; brother, John (Jean) Wakeham of Leeds, England; sister-in-law, Betty McNaughton of Peterborough, ON; as well as numerous nieces and one nephew.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
