Joyce studied to become a Teacher initially but quickly changed to her true love – Nursing. She traveled to Kent, England where she graduated as a Registered Nurse and State Approved Midwife. As a Midwife, Joyce delivered many babies in the expectant mothers’ home with no assistance from medical staff. Later she was offered and accepted a Nursing position at the Watson General Hospital where she served for several years. She then accepted a position with Public Health in Moose Jaw where she worked until her retirement. Joyce was a loving, compassionate lady with a wonderful, bubbly personality and sense of humor. She was highly skilled in Macramé and crocheting and loved to travel. She truly loved her church and was a committed Christian all her life. She also had a deep love for animals and always insisted on having a four legged companion, preferably a dog, living in her home, and always encouraged anyone to adopt from the local Humane Society. Joyce fought her illnesses with courage and dignity and touched the hearts of all the medical personnel who assisted her. Her eyes always had a smile. She will be missed by many, many people. For those so wishing, a memorial donation may be made in Joyce’s name to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, Sk, S6H 9Z9.
