Laverna Blenkin
Laverna Blenkin was called home too soon on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Laverna was born on June 17th, 1950 in Indian Head, SK. She grew up and attended School in Sintaluta and Wolseley, SK. After high school, she moved to Regina, SK and completed a Business Diploma. She began her career with the Department of Agriculture in Nipawin, SK and then spent 30 years as a purchaser for Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation in Regina, SK. In 1977 her first son Chad was born in Regina, SK. In 1986 she met her husband Len Fisher and in 1989 her second son, Colton was born in Regina, SK. Laverna was a foundational support in her large family of 15 brothers and sisters. She loved her family, her sons, her daughters-in-law, and more than anything her 5 grandchildren. She was kind, gentle and had the biggest heart. She was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. Laverna successfully beat Lung Cancer in 2017. In March 2018, she began her battle with Adrenal and Brain Cancer to which she fought bravely and courageously. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Fisher; parents, Thomas and Janet Blenkin; sisters, Marion Blenkin and Les-Lee Jensen; brothers, Brian and Cameron Blenkin; brothers-in-law: Ken Roddy, Raymond Baldock, Peter Payne, and Lorne Fisher; and special friend, Robert Holmes. Laverna will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Chad Blenkin (Mary-Anne) and Colton Blenkin-Fisher (Cassy); grandchildren: Miguel, Tamika, Elizabeth, Benjamin, and Annabelle; sisters: Gladys, Alice, Doris, Ila, Betty (Doug), Joann (Reid), and Kelly (Don); brothers: Tommy (Shirley), Clifford (Danyta), Barry (Franky), and Larry (Kelly); in-laws: Valerie, Paul, Larry (Sandy), and Lyle (Eleanor); step-sons, Mike (Sam) and Rob (Pauline); cousins, Lois and Billy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Bishop Ashdown will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Laverna’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.
