Melvin Biggs
Melvin Biggs passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at Extendicare. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence; parents, Amy and Rosie; brother, George; granddaughter, Cindy Perry and granddaughter, Angie Biggs. Melvin will be remembered by his daughters, Linda (Calvin) Perry, Sandra (Rich) Towriss and Marsha McFarlane; son, Rodney Biggs; sister, Pearl Polley; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. Melvin was born on May 24th, 1915. He married Florence Polley on October 2nd, 1939. They lived in the Ernfold area for most of their lives, with the exception of the last 13 years being spent in Moose Jaw. Melvin worked for many years at farming and the Department of Highways. He was said to be the best “grader operator” for miles around. He also spent some time at the Sodium Sulphate Plant in Chaplin. Many hours were spent playing bridge, cribbage and smear. He also loved to play floor shuffleboard. He was a great supporter of Mosaic Place and had a share in a “virtual seat”. At Melvin’s request, there will be no Funeral Service. A private interment will be held in Ernfold Cemetery in the near future. As an expression of sympathy, if so desired, donations in his memory may be made to the CNIB, 2550 Broad St., Regina, SK.
