John Bespalko
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of John Bespalko, aged 93 years of Moose Jaw, SK on Monday, October 14th, 2019. John was born in Poprujna, Ukraine on February 20th, 1926 to Elie and Pelahia Bespalko, immigrating to Canada with his parents and brother in 1926. He was raised on the family farm in the Wheatstone, SK district. As a young man, John went to work at the Sodium Sulphate Plant in Bishopric, SK and met his future wife Nola at nearby Expanse, SK. They were married in 1949 and raised two sons. In 1954, they moved from Moosomin, SK to Moose Jaw where John was employed as a journeyman electrician for 35 years at 15 Wing CFB Moose Jaw. John was well thought of by all who knew him. He was a hard-working, self-taught man. He enjoyed working in his garage building and repairing almost anything and everything. He built his own house and helped many family members to build theirs too. John enjoyed many holiday trips with family in his self-built trailer. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Alexander, Peter, Daniel, and Edward; and sisters, Lydia and Violet. John is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Nola; sister, Ann; son, Doug (Rose) and their children Dustin (Shelly), Ryan and Dylan; son, Wayne and his children Brett (Ellen), Julie Struble (Rick) and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Katelynn, William, and Lexi; as well as Hammond and Cora. The family would like to thank the caregivers at West Park Crossing and Arbor Wing, as well as the doctors and nurses at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, for the exceptional care provided to John. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date with interment taking place at Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in John’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.
