George Otto Berg
George Otto Berg – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of George on April 30, 2010 one month shy of his 95th birthday. Born May 28, 1915 at Hallonquist, Saskatchewan to Ragna and Julius Berg, one of 10 children. He is survived by one brother, Andy of Summerland, B.C., and numerous relatives and friends. George married Irene Busse in 1943, and together they made their home in Swift Current and farmed at Neidpath, Braddock and Dendron until 1963, when they moved with their two children to a farm near Keeler. George was a hard worker who worked a variety of jobs over the years including honing his skills as a carpenter, but his greatest passion was his farm where he spent many years seeding, harvesting and caring for animals. George was a social person who enjoyed meeting and talking to people wherever he went. He was stubbornly opinionated, painfully frank and a dreamer of dreams who was committed to completing a job well done. He had a tender spot for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who enjoyed many shared stories and experiences and his amazing card and magic tricks. He will be sadly missed and remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. George goes on to eternity welcomed with open arms by his loving wife Irene and his grandson Shawn Berg. He is lovingly remembered by his son Monte Berg (Kathy), children Jasmine (Curtis), Nolan and Eric Berg; daughter Marilyn Robertson (Lloyd Collier), children Kristen Granholm (JD), Jennifer Robinson, Karl Robinson (Melanie), Tennille Oliveira (Jason), and nine great grandchildren, Chase, Madison, Noah, Maximus, Matthew, Harley, Hayden, Tynan, Taylynn.
We’ll chuckle, just quietly, whenever we think,
Of these tales that you’d tell, and then slyly wink.
We’ll remember your mischievous, twinkling blue eyes,
Your smiles, your laughter, your hugs, our good-byes.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life Service for both George and Irene Berg on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 at 10:00am in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Allan Buchanan will officiate with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation,455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, SK.
