DORIS MADELINE BENNETT
October 31st, 1930 – October 23rd, 2014
Doris Bennett, formerly of Chamberlain, SK, passed away quietly in the morning of Thursday, October 23rd, 2014. Doris will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, Cleve Bennett. She was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Jack Munroe; sister, Thelma Botkin (Bud); brother, Stewart Munroe; as well as Rae Bennett, wife of her grandson John. Doris will also be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elaine Bennett Fox; son, Lyle (Kathy) Bennett; daughter, Nola (Darren) Shatkowski; grandchildren: Autumn, Carman (Diana Buckingham), Doyle, Alexandra Fox (Andrew Kuzma), John Bennett (Rhonda Christison), Dennis (Dawn) Bennett, Melanie (Kevin) Paré, Matthew (Amanda) Waters, Daphne and Dawson Shatkowski; great-grandchildren: Dean, Haley and Taylor Bennett, Kayla, Chelsie and Riley Christison, Blair and Beck Bennett, Julia and Lilah Paré, and Madilyn Waters; brother-in-law, Bill Bennett; sister-in-law, Pat Munroe; as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris was a career woman well ahead of her time. As well as being a good cook, a hands-on mother and supporting partner, she worked full time for Canada Post running the Post Office at Chamberlain for close to 60 years, at one time even working 6 days before the 5 day work week was implemented. She will be remembered for many family meals, her great pies and puffed wheat cake, in addition to her amazing garden and hand knit socks and mitts. There are so many wonderful memories that are left with her family. A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Hilda Dale will officiate and interment will take place at Chamberlain Cemetery at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Doris’ name may be made to the Chamberlain Cemetery Fund, Box 2, Chamberlain, SK S0G 0R0 or the Alzheimer Assoc. of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 – 12th Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
