Stan Bender
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stan on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the age of 84 after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. 2 TIM 4 : 7. Stan was born October 21, 1922 in Neudorf, Sk. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Margaret, 2 brothers Ernie and Gustav, 2 sisters Sophie and Annie, 2 sisters – in – law Winnie and Clara, 2 brothers – in – law Gottlieb Weger and Herman Hoffman. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Martha, 3 sons Gerald ( Dianne), Daryl (Lorenda), Earl (Dawn), grandchildren Brad (Kirsten), Chelsey (Marco), Saraleah (Houston), Terry (Crystal), Lisa (Tyler), Yarnel and Brooke, great grandchildren Connor, Aaron, Adrianne, Julia, 2 brothers Robert (Lorraine), Leslie (Mavis) and numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was raised on the farm near Neudorf where he attended Carhill School . After his marriage to Martha and a brief stay in Kitchener, Ontario he returned to Neudorf to pursue his dream of farming. When his children were of school age they moved to Wolseley where Stan held various jobs in the community. They moved to Regina in 1973 after Stan accepted a position at The Trading Post. Stan also worked for Singer Sewing Machines where he achieved Canadian Salesman of the Year. He finally retired from Husky in 1982. Stan’s passion was for horses. He loved to travel the province to participate in heavy horse competitions. The hours he spent, the comradery he felt and the friendships he made meant the world to him. For pure pleasure, and maybe a little profit, Stan would purchase, repair, restore and resell horse harnesses. It was a hobby he enjoyed until his passing. Stan took great pride in his grandchildren and more recently his great grandchildren. He loved to attend their activities whether it was hockey, baseball, horses, dancing or gymnastics. He will be missed. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends, so wishing, may make donations to the Alliance Church, Box 353, Moose Jaw, Sk. S6H 4N9. The Funeral Service will be held at the Alliance Church, 9 th and Thatcher, on Monday, April 2nd, 2007 at 1:30 PM with Pastor John Peneycad Celebrant.
