Elizabeth Bassendowski
Elizabeth Bassendowski (nee Harder), aged 93 years, passed away Sunday, July 22nd, 2012 in her home at the William Albert House in Emerald Park, SK. She enjoyed her 3 years there and felt peaceful, safe and content. Elizabeth was born in Chaplin, SK on August 27th, 1918 to John and Katrina Harder. Elizabeth was a hard working farm woman but always found time to sew, knit and paint and all of her children have some of her afghans and quilts. She also loved to travel, having gone to the United States, Europe, Hawaii and Mexico. Elizabeth received her grade 12 diploma and furthered her education through the distance education program at Athabasca University, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in History at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund and was the last of the 10 children in the Harder family. Elizabeth is survived by her children: Gloria (Ervin) Krahn, Gregory, Evan and Colin, David (Iona) and Braydon, Murray (Bobbi), Matthew, Hannah and Ava, Janette (Terry) Harapiak, Carly and Michael, Dennis (Judy), Terry and Brian, Sandra (Luis Salgado), Jonathan (Lauren) and Andrew (Kurt); sisters-in-law, Violet and Lorraine; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Tea will be held on Thursday, July 26th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and a private family interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery. The family would like to thank the William Albert House staff for their ability to make Mom feel loved. The kisses and hugs were special. The care was outstanding, the compassion and attitude was evident throughout Mom’s 3 years with them.
