Marlene Fay Barr
Marlene Fay Barr aged 92 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at the Moose Jaw Special Home Care. Marlene is survived by her sisters, Donna Hamm (Dave) and Sharon Tremka (Don d.) of Red Deer, AB, and by her sister-in-law, Marilyn Barr of Regina, SK.
Her teens and adult years were spent in Moose Jaw where she attended Moose Jaw Tech and worked at the Co-op until she met and married Gordon Barr in 1953. They had 3 boys – Cameron (Susanne), Myron (Anita), and Dalton (Penny); 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Getting together with family and friends was always important to Marlene and she loved to entertain. She had a love of music and attended a variety of concerts. Marlene travelled extensively and enjoyed country drives. Marlene and Gord farmed in the Westview district then moved to the Moose Jaw district in 1977, where they continued farming until 2004. They were active in the Free Methodist Church and enjoyed their time spent at the cabin at Arlington Beach. They continued to live in Moose Jaw and after Gordon’s passing in 2016, Marlene stayed in their home until 2018, when she then moved to Mulberry Estates.
Marlene moved to the Arbour Unit West Park Retirement Home in 2021 and in October of 2023, when she required more care, she moved to the Moose Jaw Special Care Home. Marlene remained there until her passing, reuniting with her husband, parents, family, friends, and her Lord. Thank you to the staff at the Moose Jaw Special Care Home and at the Arbor unit for their care, kindness, and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Dave Moore will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. Dalton & Penny, sending you my deepest condolences on the passing of your mom.
Thinking of you all.
Marlene and Gord were such a lovely couple. When we moved to Saskatchewan in 1983 they invited on occasion to their farm for Sunday dinner. They made us feel very welcome in our new environment. Over the years they would always stop and chat with us concerned on how we were doing, reminding us that divine providence always wins.
Our deepest condolences to the entire Barr family on the passing of your mom, may your memories give you comfort at this time.
Ernie and I send our deepest condolances to you Dalton, Penny, Emmy and the family.
Your parents were special people and an example of God’s love to everyone. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Cam, Myron, Dalton and families, we are so very sorry for the loss of your mother and our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. We hope all the wonderful memories provide comfort and strength to carry you through the difficult days ahead.
We offer our condolences to the family of Marlene Barr.
Dear Dalton, Penny and family,
Our hearts are saddened to hear of the passing of your dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marlene was a beautiful soul who loved her family well and enjoyed spending time with them.
Some of our memories of her are her driving her beloved BMW car, wearing very coordinated outfits and her love for celebration and beautiful things.
What a comfort to know she is with Jesus, whom she loved and to know she is in her eternal home with Him.
May you each be comforted by this glorious truth and may it sustain you as you grieve.
We love you all so very much. God bless you.
Love Bill and Jenn Crowder
To all the family of the late Marlene Barr: My thoughts at this time are about the times I helped both Marlene and Gordon on the farm at harvest time. I knew then how much you both loved Jesus. And I know now where Marlene is, In the Arms of JESUS.
