Gordon Neil Barr
Gordon Neil Barr, aged 85 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Sunday, April 24th, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret; and brothers, Gary and Morris. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Marlene; sons: Cameron (Susanne), Myron (Anita) and Dalton (Penny); grandchildren: Kaitlin, Karyss, Jillian, Jake (Sara), Tegan, Emmy, Austin and Hannah; great-grandchildren: Sirocco, Isabeau and Edison Gordon; and sister, Marilyn Barr. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Free Methodist Church, 375 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend Barry Taylor will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Gordon grew up in the Westview district. He loved being a farmer and continued to farm in the Westview and Moose Jaw districts until 2004. Gordon married Marlene McDougall in 1953. Together they enjoyed the fellowship with others at church, travelling, listening to gospel music, and going on drives in the country. He and Marlene had an extensive circle of friends. He took pride in the accomplishments of his family in business, education, sports and careers. Gordon enjoyed the cabin that he and his Dad built at Arlington Beach, boating, talking farm, politics and news with friends, meat and potatoes, and playing shuffleboard at the Cosmos. Faith played a major role in his life. Gordon grew up in the Free Methodist Church and attended there most of his life. He was an active member of the Gideons. Flowers are gratefully declined.
