The family of William Matthew Barber is deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 24th, 2012. Bill is survived by his sisters, Kay Pritchard and her sons Ken (Alice), Kelvin (Ruth), Glenn (Shannon) and Kelly (Lori); Winnie Kozak and her son Corwin (Cathy); brother, Alex Barber (Kim) and sons Darrell (Carol), Brian (Wendy) and Darwin (Jodi); sisters, Flo Dolinshaw (Bob) and daughters Deanna (Ken) and Lisa (Greg); Eileen Tkachuk and her children Allanna (Brad) and Brent (Sarah); as well as 31 great-nieces and nephews and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Annie Barber; uncle, Dave Barber; sister, Gladys Barber; sister-in-law, Eileen Barber; brothers-in-law, John Kozak and Tom Pritchard; and niece, Gaylene Middleton. Bill was born at Whitewood, SK and received his education at Beynes School. There are many happy memories of growing up on the family farm. In 1960, the family moved to Regina where he was employed by SaskPower, NIS Construction and Wappell Construction. The family farm was maintained until 1967 but he continued to raise cattle as a hobby farmer. In 2007, he retired to Mankota, SK where he spent his time driving in the country enjoying nature, hunting gophers, working on his house and yard, and helping on his nephew’s ranch. Bill was a private person who worked hard and went through life quietly with honesty and integrity. He was always there to lend us a hand and asked little of us in return. Family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed the children. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Whitewood, SK. Pastors Wilma and Brian Woods will officiate. The family will lay his cremated remains to rest in the family plot at the Whitewood Cemetery. We will return to the Anglican Parish Hall for lunch and fellowship and welcome friends to join us. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director. 693-455
