MARIE ELAINE BLANCHE BACON (TRODD)
Elaine Bacon, late of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 at the age of 57 years. Elaine was born in Longlac, ON. She lived in Terrace Bay, ON and Thunder Bay, ON where she attended Confederation College. She moved west with her family to Saskatoon, SK in 1982 before settling in Moose Jaw a few years later. You may have known Elaine when she worked as a car-hop at an A&W, in the housewares department of Sears, working in the Catholic school system or as a recreationist at Extendicare. She also may have met you on the Southwest Community Association, the parent-teacher association at Sacred Heart School or on a committee of parish council at Church of Our Lady. Elaine may have been a part of a class you took, possibly figure skating, cake decorating, French language, belly dancing, wheat weaving, Ukrainian egg decorating, downhill skiing, basket weaving, piano, knitting, horseback riding or yoga. She liked to stay active. Elaine may have walked or cross-country skied near you in the Wakamow Valley with her friends Cheryl and Sheila, while stopping to feed the chickadees. She may have treated you to some of her home canning, biscotti or even an exercise DVD to keep you motivated to move. Elaine was known for her love of animals (especially cats), reading, gardening, walking, biking, her strong faith in God and a good cup of Red Rose tea. Her kids were her pride and joy but nothing compared to the arrival of her granddaughter. The last four years of her life she was known as Nana to her darling Lila Marie. Lila gave her Nana a pep in her step and a reason to keep fighting. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lydia Bacon; and nephew, Michael Bacon. She is survived by her son, Neil Trodd; daughter, Diana Trodd (Brandon Cochrane); granddaughter, Lila Marie Cochrane; brother, Robert Bacon; sister-in-law, Lexe Hainsworth; and niece, Lindsey Christie (Milo). Sincere thanks to Dr. Rininsland, Dr. Dolata, the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Pasqua 3B Ward, and the palliative home care team. You gave our family time with our mom that will be treasured forever. “Love you to infinity, Mom.” The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 25th, 2016 at 11:00 am at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Jake Ibay will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Elaine’s name may be made to St. Michael’s Retreat, Box 220, Lumsden, SK S0G 3C0 or Lymphoma Canada, Suite 202 – 6860 Century Ave, Mississauga, ON L5N 2W5.
