Henry Averill
Mr. Henry Averill, late of Barrhead, AB and formerly of Central Butte, SK, passed away on August 6th, 2014, in his own bed, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95 years. He is survived by his children: Jack (Dianne), Candice (Ron), Mavis (Dave), Kaysie (Ron); his daughter-in-law Judy; and by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his two sisters, Mabel (Gordon) and Mary; and by many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 74 years, Millie; his sisters: Eileen, Clara, Ida, Elva; his brother, Vannie; his son, Garry; his son-in-law, Shane; and his granddaughter, Laurel. Henry was born in the Central Butte hospital on June 1st, 1919 and farmed near the Darmody and Mawer area for many years before moving into Central Butte. He was a veteran of WWII. He loved the prairie, his family, his hound dogs and spending time with his grandchildren. He wasn’t a big talker, but he had a very big heart. Henry and Millie moved to Alberta in 2008 to be closer to family during their final years. Henry took care of his wife for her last few years and remained in good health up to the last four months of his life. Everyone loved his smile, his humour, his laid-back attitude and his calm way of being up until his passing. He wasn’t a complainer and he will be missed. We are grateful for having him be a part of our lives for so long. We would like to thank the communities of the Darmody/Mawer area, Central Butte, Onoway and Barrhead for their contributions over the many years of his life. We especially would like to thank the staff of Ivermain in Central Butte, Sk., The Chateau Lac St.Anne in Onoway, AB, and Shepherd’s Care in Barrhead, AB. There will be a celebration on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home to celebrate both Henry and Millie’s lives. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Ivermain home in Central Butte. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
