Marlene Arnold

On Thursday, Dec 10th, 2015, Marlene Arnold passed away suddenly at the age of 77 years.  She was predeceased by her parents, Amby and Leta McDonald.  Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Alvin; son, Vince; daughters: Karla (Ken), Margo and Lana (Greg); grandchildren: Katalya (Ewan), Kyron, Arnold and Eleta; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; as well as many, many friends.  Marlene grew up and raised her family at Shamrock, SK.  She was very involved with her family and community.  She enjoyed taking her girls to figure skating, ballet and swimming.  She was the Secretary for the Shamrock Community Hall for 40 years, and she worked as a nurse’s aide for 10 years at the Foyer De’Villas in Gravelbourg, SK.  She was strongly devoted to supporting her beloved husband during his many years of volunteering for the community hockey and baseball teams, as well as the Recreation Board.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and would take many meals out to the field for Alvin and his helpers for harvest and spring seeding.  Everyone who knew her always enjoyed coming over for any of her home-cooked meals.  Anything Marlene could do for her family and friends, she would do happily.  Recently, 4 years ago, Alvin and she moved off the family farm and settled in Regina where she made many friends.  She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her smiling face and her selfless giving to her family and community.  Marlene’s funeral service will be held in the same church where she and Alvin were married almost 60 years ago, and it is also the church where her parents were married in 1927.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 19th, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Charles Catholic Church in Coderre, SK with Father Maurice Minnie as the presiding celebrant.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Marlene’s name may be made to the Shamrock Community Hall, General Delivery, Shamrock, SK S0H 3W0.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
