Grant Armstrong
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grant Armstrong on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015 with family by his side. Grant was born to James and Irene Armstrong on June 29th, 1927, the youngest of 7 children. He went to school at Beeston School in the Kegworth/Glenavon district. His parents passed away suddenly, his mother in 1934 and father in 1935. Grant then lived with his aunt and uncle. After the passing of his aunt in 1952, he made his home with his cousins Ron and Ione Todd. He purchased land, farming until the fall of 1956 when he relocated to Regina, where he was employed with Interprovincial Pipelines Ltd on December 3rd, 1956. During his time in Regina he met and pursued Miss Jean Wolfe. His wish was granted when they married on June 27th, 1964. Their son Derek was born in 1969. They resided in Regina until 1973, then transferred to the Loreburn Station as a heavy duty mechanic, living there until his retirement in February 1988. Grant enjoyed going back to the farm to help with harvest each year. Grant and Jean built a home in Palliser Park at Riverhurst and lived there until 2007, during which time they enjoyed many trips and cruises. In 2007 they purchased a home in Moose Jaw, and have resided there until his passing. He enjoyed curling in bonspiels and was a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. He was predeceased by his cousin and brother at heart, Ron Todd; brothers: William, Ross and Lorne; sisters: Olive Plewis, Grace Slykhuis and Fern Armstrong; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Wolfe. Grant leaves behind his loving wife, Jean; son, Derek (Kim); grandson, Ethan; sister at heart, Ione Todd; many nieces, nephews and their families; sister-in-law, Yvonne Wolfe; brother-in-law, Lorrie Wolfe; as well as a host of friends.
